Discreet, Same-Day Treatment in Nechells

A holiday, a wedding, an exam, or a pilgrimage — sometimes the timing of your period is genuinely inconvenient. At Bloomsbury Pharmacy our pharmacist can assess your suitability for prescription period delay treatment and, where appropriate, supply it the same day. No GP appointment needed.

The Service We Offer

The service is private, straightforward, and usually finished in a single visit.

1. Confidential consultation

You will speak with the pharmacist in our private consultation room. They will ask about:

  • Your usual cycle, and the dates you want to cover.
  • Your medical history — particularly any history of blood clots, stroke, heart disease, liver problems, migraine with aura, or hormone-related cancers.
  • Any medicines or supplements you currently take.
  • Whether there is any chance you could be pregnant.

2. Your treatment

Where the treatment is suitable, the pharmacist can supply it directly from the pharmacy. Period delay tablets are usually started a few days before your period is due and taken until you want it to arrive — it will normally begin two to three days after you stop.

  • The pharmacist will confirm exactly when to start and stop, based on your dates.
  • They will talk you through possible side effects, which can include bloating, breast tenderness, nausea or mood changes.
  • There is a limit to how long treatment can be taken for — this will be explained to you.

3. Important to know

Period delay treatment is not a contraceptive and gives no protection against pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections. If you already take the combined contraceptive pill, there may be a simpler way to achieve the same result — ask the pharmacist and they will advise.

If the treatment is not clinically appropriate for you, the pharmacist will explain why and, where useful, recommend you speak to your GP.
