Hajj & Umrah Travel Health Service
Vaccinations and Certificates for Pilgrims in Nechells
Travelling for Hajj or Umrah brings its own health considerations — large crowds, intense heat, and a mandatory vaccination requirement set by the Saudi authorities. At Bloomsbury Pharmacy our pharmacist can review your travel plans, give the vaccinations you need, and issue the certificate you must show on entry.

The Service We Offer
Every pilgrim needs to arrive with the right protection and the right paperwork. We handle both in a single appointment wherever possible.
1. Meningitis ACWY — the mandatory one
Saudi Arabia requires all pilgrims to show proof of quadrivalent meningococcal (ACWY) vaccination before an entry visa is granted. The vaccine must normally be given at least 10 days before you arrive, so please book with time to spare.
- We supply and administer the ACWY vaccine on site.
- You receive a signed vaccination certificate for your visa application.
- We will check whether a previous dose still covers you, so you are not vaccinated unnecessarily.
2. Other recommended vaccinations
Depending on your health, your itinerary, and any onward travel, the pharmacist may also recommend:
- Seasonal flu vaccination — strongly advised given the crowds.
- Polio, where required for travellers arriving from, or passing through, certain countries.
- Hepatitis A and typhoid, particularly if you are extending your trip.
- Any routine UK vaccinations you are behind on.
3. Pre-travel health advice
Your consultation also covers the practical side of the pilgrimage — staying hydrated in extreme heat, avoiding heat exhaustion, foot care during long periods of walking, managing existing conditions such as diabetes or asthma while away, and what to carry in a small travel health kit.
Please note: entry requirements are set by the Saudi authorities and can change from season to season. We will check the current guidance with you at your appointment, but do also confirm the latest rules with your travel agent or tour operator.
